Plus Size Dating Dilemma

As a plus size man or plus size woman should you go to a dating agency specialised for plus size people or go to a dating agency open for all types of people?

Surely, you can go to both? Well, for some this is easy whilst others find it difficult to be a large person in an otherwise sea of skinny members. Dating agencies for some people is a last resort whilst for others it is the normal way to go about meeting people. A lot of this started in the traditional way – through clubs and specially arranged meetings and events (speed dating being one of the most popular types of events for its members).

Plus size dating agencies were set up to help those not confident enough to approach their preferred new partners though “normal” dating agencies and give them the boost they needed to get out of their homes and go and meet new people similar to themselves. Though it doesn’t always work out that only big people fancy other big people – people fall for all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours and that is the way it should be.

You can choose to visit an agency where they have premises and can discuss your profile – what are your details (age, race, religion, hobbies, likes dislikes etc.) and hope they can find a match for you in their database. The far easier option for plus size dating would be an online site where you can sign up and search the database yourself with your own criteria for a partner. The disadvantage of this is the websites do not have the ability to check out the members fully so you would have to take a chance that the details online are actually valid and match the person on the screen. Many a time has someone turned up to a meeting where the person does not match the photograph and you have nothing in common. The dating agency would be able to carry out some basic checks and would pretty much give you the details correctly of the person you are meeting because they have actually met them in person. This would be true whether you were using a plus size dating agency or any other dating agency.

If you can see whether the dating agencies provide a trial or a short term contract so that you don’t spend too much money at once, this would be a great way to see if this works for you. If the dating agency is not an appropriate method for meeting new people, or the matches they come up with are not to your liking then you may need to look at other ways to meet people. Local church groups, school PTA, local clubs and so on are a great way to meet new people, make friends and to contribute your skills. This may be just the boost you need to gain confidence to go out for meals, drinks or dancing where you can meet people in a “normal” way and find that partner of your dreams. So go on, give it a try!
