There are fewer and fewer women today who fit into the previous average of a size 10 in women’s clothes. Now, the average dress size for a woman is 14 thereby meaning a quite different range of clothing being offered for the larger lady.

Thank goodness the designers and manufacturers of ladies clothing, footwear and accessories are addressing the issue and not providing fantastic styles of plus size clothing and plus size footwear. Not only are the styles available today hip and trendy, but the materials and colours on offer are vast. Years ago the plus size woman had only navy blue, black and grey to choose from in clothes of a larger size. Nowadays as the plus size lady is becoming more fashion conscious, the choice available to her is far far better than ever before.

As the plus size woman is now becoming happy and content with their figure and shape, so is their confidence growing with respect to trying out new plus size fashions. Confidence allows these women to have a go and try out apparel of different styles and colours that they previously would not have even looked at in a clothing store. Fashion for the larger lady used to be found in an area tucked away at the back of a general store but not now. Shopping for the plus size woman is no longer done by mail order as a preference, but now high street stores and online stores are popping up al lover the place. If you are unsure, call the store first to ask a few questions and make an appointment to go in and be measured correctly. Once this is done the sales staff will be able to locate the right plus size clothes that will fit you properly. Also, don’t be pressured into buying anything that you are not happy with. Plus size women are no different to any other sized women, we all want to look good and feel good no matter what our size. So, don’t buy anything that you are not comfortable wearing or just doesn’t feel or look right on you. You wouldn’t buy a pair of shoes that don’t fit you – so why compromise with your clothing?
